Space Opera as Theology : Scientology's OT III

Transcript:

The head of the Galactic Confederation (76 planets around larger stars visible from here) (founded 95,000,000 yrs ago, very space opera) solved overpopulation (250 billion or so per planet -- 178 billion on average) by mass implanting.

He caused people to be brought to Teegeeack (Earth) and put an H Bomb on the principal volcanoes (Incident 2) and then the Pacific area ones were taken in boxes to Hawaii and the Atlantic Area ones to Las Palmas and there "packaged."

His name was Xenu. He used renegades. Various misleading data by means of circuits etc. was placed in the implants.

When through with his crime Loyal Officers (to the people) captured him after 6 years of battle and put him in an electronic mountain trap where he still is.

"They" are gone. The place (Confed.) has since been a desert.

Do Scientologists really believe this stuff ?

Yes, they do. This essay by Bob Minton describes the Scientology world-view that emerges from OT III. And here's an excerpt from a piece by Stacy Brooks describing her reactions upon first reading OT III :

"I sat there for a long time after I read this startling revelation. It was a profound turning point for me. I will describe what went on in my mind as well as I possibly can. Here I had finally made it to the Wall of Fire, I had just been given the Secrets of the Universe. This was Reality! I distinctly remember feeling like I was in a state of suspended animation; as if I were watching myself to see how I was going to react to this news. I almost let the thought form: "You've got to be kidding!" But I caught it just in time and squelched it. I did allow myself to think that I didn't understand what he was talking about. But having already installed L. Ron Hubbard in my mind as the unerring dispenser of Truth, there was no way for me to reject the information. I remember feeling completely numb and making sure to arrange my expression so that the course supervisor would not realize how stunned I was.

Mercifully, it was soon time for dinner. I remember walking toward the galley (the dining room), which was in the basement of what is now Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles, trying to digest what I had just learned. As I walked over a small bridge I suddenly stopped dead in my tracks, frozen by the thought that I was crawling with millions of disembodied creatures. I had to restrain the urge to wipe my hands over my whole body to get them off ! "

My perspective on audition

by Stacy Brooks (ARS - July 12, 2000)

We get calls nearly every day here at the LMT from people who are having doubts about whether or not they should continue to be a Scientologist. Without question, the subject they ask me about most often is the tech of auditing. What do I think about the Tech? Do I think it works?

When anyone calls me for advice about whether auditing is beneficial or harmful, I always preface my response by saying that there have never been any clinical studies done to determine the effects of auditing. I have my opinions, but my opinions are based purely on my own experience and nothing else. Certainly they are not based on any scientific evidence, because there isn't any. Hubbard never did any scientific testing, and no one else ever has either. The only available information is purely anecdotal. Ten Scientologists could write about their experiences in auditing and they would all have totally different perspectives, I am sure.

What I have to say here is my opinion.

Since I left Scientology I have had a chance to learn more about the various schools of therapy that have been developed. Now I understand that Hubbard borrowed from a number of different schools when he put together the lower levels of auditing. Dianetics and the Grades are basically a simple form of regression therapy. The theory of regression therapy is that by going back and revisiting moments of trauma, one can resolve confusions that were created by the trauma and thereby free up more of one's mind for creative endeavors.

My view is that not everyone in the world needs therapy, and that of those who feel they do, different kinds of therapy work for different people. Some can benefit from simple regression; others may need medication, and still others may find that transactional analysis, or perhaps Jungian analysis, or perhaps something else helps them. I do not believe that any one form of therapy will work on everyone.

I think Scientology does many people a great disservice by insisting that "the Tech" works on everyone in exactly the same way and that if they are not having gains it means there is something wrong with them. I don't think that's true. Some people say they have made gains from their Dianetics or Grades auditing, and I won't dispute that. But many others have told me it didn't work for them. I don't dispute that either.

Auditing, at the lower levels where it is simple regression therapy such as Life Repair, Self-Analysis Lists or Grades, may be beneficial for some people. Scientology auditors have no formal education to prepare them as therapists - even the highest trained auditor studies nothing but L. Ron Hubbard's writings and is forbidden to study anything else.  But even so, perhaps it can be beneficial, just as Transactional analysis or Jungian psychotherapy can be beneficial for some people. Conversely, if a person gets involved in a form of therapy that is not right for them, it won't help them and may even make them worse.

In the lower levels of auditing, an auditor guides the preclear, using an E-meter, to areas of trauma or difficulty. By talking about these personal difficulties, some people feel some relief from painful memories. The preclear's personal reality is important in this auditing. Whatever is true for the preclear is what is addressed.

This is what attracts many people to Scientology. They hear auditing is a form of therapy that is tailor-made for each individual's particular problems, or "case," as they call it in Scientology. This is a very important aspect of the initial attraction. Many people are thrilled at the idea that such a thing exists.

As I said, some people say they have made gains from their Dianetics or Grades auditing, and I won't dispute that. However, there is at least one major aspect of the lower level auditing that concerns me.

What happens in an auditing session is that the auditor asks the preclear, or pc, to locate a moment of trauma in his or her life. The pc is indoctrinated to believe that similar traumatic or painful experiences (such as all the times when you hurt your knee, or all thetimes when you missed your mother) re linked in the mind. If the pc tells the auditor about a certain moment of trauma and there is nothing earlier holding it in place, then once the pc has revisited that moment, the upset connected with that moment will vanish. But if there are earlier similar moments of trauma, it will be necessary for the pc to revisit those earlier moments before the trauma connected with that particular "chain" will vanish. The auditor decides whether or not there are earlier similar experiences by the behavior of the needle on the E-meter. If it is free-floating, the chain is finished. If not, there is something earlier.

Now let's see how this plays out in an auditing session.

Your auditor asks you to recall a time when you lost a friend. You tell him in as much detail as possible about a time when your best friend moved to another state. The auditor thanks you, and then asks you for an earlier similar time when you lost a friend. From this you know that the auditor did not see a free-floating needle and therefore knows you still have earlier traumas connected with this question. Believing that this is the way the mind works, you dutifully search your memory for an earlier time when you lost a friend. You remember a time when you were six and you and your neighbor had to start school at different schools. You remember crying and begging your mother to let you go to the same school as Sally. You hadn't remembered that in a long time. You hadn't realized you still had so much trauma connected with Sally.

You think you're finished with that chain of traumas. But your auditor asks you again for an earlier similar incident. You can't remember anything earlier than that and you tell your auditor so. Your auditor is very understanding and tells you to let him know whatever comes into your mind. You want to do what your auditor says because you trust him, so you try to remember another similar experience. You close your eyes and let your mind float a little bit.

You see a picture in your mind of someone lying on the ground. Your auditor says, "What's that ?" Then you know that there is some validity to the picture you just saw, because the auditor saw a response on the E-meter. Now you look more closely at this picture. You start to add details to the picture you saw. The auditor asks you when this experience happened. The year 1864 comes into your mind. You say this to your auditor.  He acknowledges you and helps you fill in more details of what is happening.

Soon you can describe a full-blown scenario to your auditor. You are on a battlefield with lots of other soldiers. You are looking down at a young man in a blue uniform with blood all over his chest. You kneel down and cradle his head while he dies. "I'll miss you," he says, and you start to cry as he dies in your arms.

Oh! You tell your auditor tearfully, now you understand why losing friends has always been such a terrible thing for you. Your auditor smiles at you approvingly and tells you that your needle is floating.

In Scientology they call this "going whole track." The Whole Track is a reference to the entire history of the universe that goes back millions and millions of years.

In auditing, the preclear is utterly dependent upon the auditor to confirm that these incidents are real. It all depends on what the E-meter is doing. If the meter says the incident is real, then it is. Gradually it becomes easier and easier for the preclear to believe that these past life incidents really happened. The preclear's boundaries gradually fall away completely, until there is no limit at all on what might have happened. It doesn't matter, after all. No matter what the preclear says, the auditor always smiles and says his needle is floating.

Now you have had hundreds of hours of Dianetics and Grade auditing. Your idea of what is real has completely changed. You know you are different from other people, because now you know that you have lived for millions of years. You know it is true because you've relived so many experiences in your auditing. You feel set apart from other people who have not yet discovered the truth. You want your family to experience the truth too, but you can't tell them. They wouldn't believe you. They have to experience it for themselves. You're spending your time with other Scientologists now, because it's uncomfortable to be around non-Scientologists. They don't understand. Scientologists are the only ones who know what reality really is.

Now when your auditor asks you for an earlier similar incident, you don't have to be coaxed into finding a picture. You know what to do.  Now, as soon as the auditor asks the question, a picture appears. There is no longer any difference in your mind between something that happened yesterday, and something that happened 300 years ago, or 25,000 years ago, or a million years ago.

All Scientologists believe that these incidents they find in their auditing really happened to them. They believe that they have memories going back thousands of years, millions of years, even billions of years. This is encouraged by the auditing process, in which the preclear is repeatedly told, "What is true for you is true for you." In practice, this means that the auditor validates as real anything the preclear comes up with in session, no matter how far-fetched it may be.

Moreover, the preclear is not allowed to discuss all of this with anyone but his auditor. Husbands and wives are not permitted to talk about what happens in their auditing sessions. Friends are required to report on each other if someone talks about an incident from their auditing. So the preclear is left without any way of keeping himself anchored in the real world. There is no way to verify whether or not something is true or imaginary.

Preclears who do not give their auditors incidents prior to this lifetime are required to undergo a Whole Track Remedy before they are allowed to go onto their upper levels. So this belief in a personal history stretching back millions of years is a required part of the preclear's reality in order to progress up the Bridge to Total Freedom.

In my opinion, this insistence on letting go of any boundaries for what is true and what is imaginary, and the requirement that one is not allowed to compare notes with anyone else about what is coming up in the auditing sessions, is all part of a gradual indoctrination that prepares people for what they will be required to accept as reality on the upper levels.

Let me recount my own experience. On my lower level auditing I had found earlier similar incidents that seemed to be past life experiences. I wasn't sure if they were real or imaginary, and there was no way for me to find out. Certainly I couldn't ask my auditor, because if I told my auditor that these incidents didn't seem real to me, I would be sent back to do even more of this kind of auditing and that was the last thing I wanted to do. I just wanted to keep going up the Bridge to Total Freedom until I got to some part of it that made sense to me.

I did my auditing back in the old days - in the mid-1970s - when people were still required to do a step called R6-EW and the Clearing Course in order to go Clear before moving on to the OT levels. Instead of making more sense, these upper levels were even more confusing than the lower ones. At least on the earlier levels I was told that the auditing had something to do with experiences that were personal to me. Starting with R6-EW and conti- nuing on the Clearing Course, I was given lengthy instructions about what I was supposed to audit. No longer was I addressing my own reality. Now I was told that everyone had been given identical horrific implants that I would be auditing out from now on. It had nothing to do with me any more.

I stumbled my way through the end words of R6-EW and the bizarre "implant sequences" of the Clearing Course. Somehow I managed to tell the examiner after one of my solo sessions that it seemed like I was mocking the whole thing up. What I meant was that none of what I was auditing seemed in any way real to me, and I didn't think the E-meter was really reading on anything but my imagination. But soon I was called to attest to the State of Clear, and I discovered I had voiced the "ClearCognition." That was it? I thought to myself, although of course I didn't say that to anyone. Here I was at this tremendous milestone in my life, attesting to the State of Clear, and I felt exactly the same as I had before - except a bit more confused.

I did what many of the people I have spoken to also did. I went along with what was happening because I didn't want anyone to know it wasn't making sense to me. Shouldn't I feel elated, exhilarated, different somehow? But I didn't. I resolved to continue on to the next levels. Maybe if I just kept going it would start to make sense.

But OT 2 was an even more bizarre assortment of implant sequences, punctuated with moments during which bright lights were supposed to have been part of the implant and   I was supposed to contact my memory of these lights until I got a big meter read.

Anyone who is familiar with False Memory Syndrome may be feeling by now that auditing is a classic example of it. That is certainly how I feel about it now. I think all of this telling me what happened to me millions of years ago and then getting me to "remember" these things until I "confirmed" it by the E-meter is nothing more than coercing me into creating memories to further someone else's agenda.

The only way I could get the meter to read was to heave a big sigh, which is what I did every time I thought about these lights. That way I could report that I was getting a meter read. It was the best I could do. None of it had anything to do with me whatsoever. That was how I felt.

But I thought the best thing to do was keep quiet and get to OT 3, the famous Wall of Fire. There the secrets of the Universe would be revealed to me, and all of this lower level stuff would fade into insignificance.

When I finally was admitted to the OT 3 course room I thought to myself, "Finally! Now it will finally all make sense to me!"

Oh, how wrong I was.

Reverently, I took the dog-eared legal-sized file folder from the course supervisor. Struggling to contain my excitement, I opened the pack and read LRH's handwritten explanation of the history of the universe. This is what I discovered:

Xenu, the head of the Galactic Federation, which consisted of seventy-six planets, had a terrible overpopulation problem - up to 250 billion people per planet. He decided to solve it by mass implanting. So he rounded everybody up and shipped them to this planet, which was known at that time as Teegeeack (pronounced T-G-ack). He blew everybody up by dropping H-bombs into volcanoes. Then he had all the people who had been blown up in the Pacific area taken in boxes to Hawaii, and all the people who had been blown up in the Atlantic area taken in boxes to Las Palmas. Then everyone was subjected to several weeks of implanting, during which all these disem- bodied creatures were implanted with everything we currently think of as reality. The implant was designed to kill anyone who tried to solve it. Only through LRH's courageous technical development was it now possible to overcome it.

Now I learned the terrible truth: my body was a mass of individual disembodied space creatures, or body thetans, as they are called in Scientology, stuck to me. I would have to audit each one of these body thetans and get them to leave. It was going to take a long time, but there it was. Hubbard said, basically, that it was a good thing someone had finally had the courage to chart this dangerous path for everyone else. It was a heroic thing he had done for all of us.

I sat there for a long time after I read this startling revelation.

I had to restrain the urge to wipe my hands over my whole body to get them off!

That was in 1976. From then on until I left Scientology in 1989, auditing was completely and utterly about getting rid of as many of these BTs as possible. No one ever mentioned my own problems again, unless it was to security check me to find out my crimes. But as far as any kind of therapy for me, psychologically or emotionally, that was over. Now I was supposed to be above all of that. That was all for the uninitiated.

I had no case; I was Clear. Emotions and problems were for people who were still encumbered with such degraded human issues. If I had any problems or difficulties of any kind, there were only two possible reasons. Either my ethics were out and I had hidden crimes, or I had BTs who had waked up and were enveloping me in their degraded emotions, and they needed to be audited out. I couldn't have any problems or difficulties myself, remember - I was Clear. I effectively ceased to exist as myself. I was nothing more than a mass of BTs.

BT, Body thetan: Used to be called demon circuits then theta lines, entities, theta bodies, body souls, chakra's. These are thetans that are glued together on the awareness of awareness unit (the I) and have fixed locations in and around the body. These BT's are the main source of dreams (besides the I mocking up images himself, like lucid dreaming) and aberration. (See also confidential levels)

Solo auditing was always bizarre for me. Sitting in the room all alone, holding both cans in one hand, watching the E-meter dial for a read that would tell me where my next BT was - I only got a few reads during my OT 3 auditing. You get to attest to OT 3 Completion when you can't find any more BTs. Well, I attested very quickly, glad to be done with this strange auditing level. I was ready to move on to something else.

To my great dismay, I discovered that the rest of the Bridge to Total Freedom was all about BTs, BTs, and more BTs.

OT 4 is the OT Drug Rundown, during which you locate BTs who have been affected by drugs. You have to get each BT to zero in on the particular drugs that caused the problem and audit those drugs out until the BT can blow.

On each of these levels you are assured that you have gotten rid of all your BTs. You attest to being free of all BTs and you are really happy to have rid yourself of all the little parasitic creatures. Then you route onto your next level and you are told, "Actually you do have more BTs. We just didn't want to tell you until you were ready to hear it."

The day before you were perfectly certain that you were free of the little disembodied thetans. Now you suddenly discover that in fact you have millions more; you just weren't aware enough to perceive them until now.

OT 5 is Audited New Era Dianetics for OTs, or Audited NOTs for short. On NOTs you learn that everything is made up of BTs. EVERYTHING. Your toes, your thoughts, your love for your daughter, the moon, your fork, your shoes, your teeth, your bones, your molecules - literally everything - is made up of BTs.

You have an auditor with you for Audited NOTs. Your auditor tells you to locate another BT and ask it, "What are you?" You do this silently, and the BT then answers your question, silently, of course. As I said before, it can answer literally anything. It might say, "your third fingernail on your left hand," or it might say, "your refrigerator," "the light bulb," "the anger you're feeling toward your mother," anything. The rug, the window pane, the North Star, a Kleenex. Remember, what's true for the preclear, or pc, is what is true, and now the pc is the BT. You never invalidate the pc.

You get the BT to keep answering the question, "What are you?" until the auditor can tell by meter read that the BT has given you the right answer. Then you are told to ask the BT another question, "Who are you?" When the BT answers, "I'm me!" it causes the needle on the E-meter to fall dramatically and the BT blows.

Again, you audit OT 5 until you can't find any more BTs. You attest to having no more BTs, and then you go onto Solo NOTs. First you do OT 6, which is the Solo NOTs Auditing Course. On it, you learn how to audit your own BTs on the NOTs processes.

Then you begin OT 7, Audited NOTs. On this level you sit in an auditing room all alone, holding both cans in one hand, locating BTs by meter read, and auditing your BTs on the NOTs commands, "What are you?" and "Who are you?" just as I described above, until they blow. The way you know when a BT has blown, by the way, is that your needle starts to float on the dial, signifying that there is nothing there any more. You will continue to find BTs and audit them until your body begins to look translucent, signifying that all of your BTs are gone.

By now you know that the entire physical universe is composed of BTs. You know that the reason it is so important to get everyone on the planet into Scientology and on the Bridge to Total Freedom is that it will take every single person auditing all day long, every day, for many, many years, to audit out all the body thetans that compose the physical universe. You now share the most important secret of all, because only now that you are on OT 7 do you know that the true goal of Scientology is to make the physical universe disappear.

And that is why nothing can stand in the way of Scientology's forward expansion. That is why anyone who tries to stop Scientology must be ruthlessly moved out of the way. Truly, it is a matter of the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics! How can we be concerned about the fate of one individual critic, or one individual Suppressive Person, when the fate of the entire Universe is at stake?

Now when you read Keeping Scientology Working you truly understand what LRH meant when he said: "The whole agonized future of this planet, every man, woman and child on it, and your own destiny for the next endless trillions of years depend on what you do here and now with and in Scientology."

Now it is perfectly clear to you why LRH set up the Guardian's Office, now known as the Office of Special Affairs, and said "The goal of the Department is to bring the government and hostile philosophies or societies into a state of complete compliance with the goals of Scientology. This is done by high level ability to control and in its absence by low level ability to overwhelm. Introvert such agencies. Control such agencies. Scientology is the only game on Earth where everybody wins. There is no overt [meaning crime] in bringing good order."

This is what goes on in the mind of a high-level Scientologist.

Many people have been auditing on OT 7, alone in a room for hours every day, auditing out their BTs, for as long as fifteen years. It is impossible to imagine what this can do to someone's state of mind. Indeed, it is my belief that this auditing of thousands upon thousands of imagined disembodied creatures, this picking apart of the very fabric of one's reality as I described above, can bring about a state of such acute dissociation that it can induce a kind of psychosis of irresponsibility.

I have never experienced anything like the ruthlessness of Scientology since they have labeled me and the people I work with Enemies of Scientology. We are now targets of their Fair Game policies, which instruct them in how to go about destroying our reputations, our sanity, and our lives. It is like being pursued by the Terminator. These people will never stop their attempts to destroy us.

But it begins to make sense to me when I realize that through the process of auditing as I have described, these people have been stripped of all sense of themselves; they have lost all sense of responsibility - indeed, all contact with their own emotions, their own thoughts, even their own hopes and aspirations. They have become addicted to the irresponsibility that comes with living a fantasy. They have truly come to believe in a bizarre future, in which the ultimate goal is a Scientology world, a world in which everyone who disagrees with Scientology will be done away with, quietly and without sorrow.

This is not a world in which I want to live.

Demystifying Scientology's Fundamental Reality -- The BT's

In Scientology, the information contained in its confidential "upper levels" is a closely guarded secret. Many people have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to reach these levels, only to discover that had they known beforehand what these upper levels contained, they would not have paid for them. Others claim that even if they had known, they would have continued in Scientology. In the interest of full disclosure, we feel that anyone considering getting into Scientology should know what they can expect for their money.

In the lower levels of Scientology, new Scientologists are taught to believe that the person or "pre-clear's" behavior and problems are caused by his "reactive mind." The reactive mind is the term used by Scientologists to describe a supposed force that causes a person to act irrationally or against his own best interest. Scientology seeks to convince a person that he needs to overcome his unknowing obedience to this reactive mind and clear himself of its influence. A person is promised that when he becomes "clear" of his reactive mind, he will be free from mental and physical problems. After reaching this much-touted "State of Clear," a Scientologist is then indoctri- nated to believe that by paying for a further series of expensive "auditing" procedures, he will eventually attain a state known as "Operating Thetan," or "OT." In Scientology, one is taught that there is an entity, separate from the body, which is called a "thetan". One is promised that when the state of OT is attained, one will be able to fly around at will without one's body. One will be in complete control, in fact, over the entire physical universe of Matter, Energy, Space and Time.

The OT levels are very secret in Scientology. People spend many thousands of dollars, sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars, to get onto these OT levels that are supposed to enable one to achieve such phenomenal abilities. No one has yet been able to exhibit any of these so-called super-human abilities, which on average cost USD 360,000, but many people are still trying. Some have been on these upper levels for as long as fifteen to twenty years.

The most important secret of the upper levels is found on OT 3, called the Wall of Fire in Scientology. It is on this level that one learns the "secrets of the universe." One learns Hubbard's so-called truth about why human beings are so limited in their abilities, and what can be done to correct this. Hubbard's "diagnosis" for the suffering and insanity on this planet is the OT 3 incident - the "Fourth Dynamic Engram" in Hubbardspeak. Many people charac- terize this as the core belief of Scientology but it is not -- it is in fact the entire CORE of Scientology.

Here is Hubbard's so-called factual and scientific truth that all Scientologist's must not only accept as reality but experience as reality:

75 million years ago, the galactic overlord for this sector of the galaxy was called Xenu. He was in charge of 76 planets, including Earth (at that time known as Teegeeack).

All of the planets Xenu controlled were over-populated by, on average, 178 billion people. Social problems dictated that Xenu rid his sector of the galaxy of this overpopulation problem, so he developed a plan.

Xenu sent out tax audit demands to all these trillions of people. As each one entered the audit centers for the income tax inspections, the people were seized, held down and injected with a mixture of alcohol and glycol, and frozen. Then, all 13.5 trillion of these frozen people were put into spaceships that looked exactly like DC8 airplanes, except that the spaceships had rocket engines instead of propellers.

Xenu's entire fleet of DC8-like spaceships then flew to planet Earth, where the frozen people were dumped in and around volcanoes in the Canary Islands and the Hawaiian Islands. When Xenu's Air Force had finished dumping the bodies into the volcanoes, hydrogen bombs were dropped into the volcanoes and the frozen space aliens were vaporized.

However, Xenu's plan involved setting up electronic traps in Teegeeack's atmosphere which were designed to trap the souls or spirits of the dead space aliens. When the 13.5 trillion spirits were being blown around on the nuclear winds, the electronic traps worked like a charm and captured all the souls in the electronic, sticky fly-paper like traps.

The spirits of the aliens were then taken to huge multiplex cinemas that Xenu had previously instructed his forces to build on Teegeeack. In these movie theaters the spirits had to spend many days watching special 3-D movies, the purpose of which was twofold: 1) to implant into these spirits a false reality, i.e. the reality that WOGS (Hubbard's derisory term for anyone not a Scientologists) know on Earth today; and, 2) to control these spirits for all eternity so that they could never cause trouble for Xenu in this sector of the Galaxy. During these films, many false pictures and stories were implanted into these spirits, which resulted in the spirits believing in all the things that control mankind on Earth today, including religion. The concept of religion, including God, Christ, Mohammed, Moses etc., were all an implanted false reality that to this very minute are used to control WOGS on Earth.

When the films ended and the souls left the cinema, they started to stick together in clusters of a few thousand and remained that way until mankind began to inhabit the Earth. Today on Earth all the spirits of these aliens have attached themselves to our bodies and are the root cause of the false reality that all but Scientology's "Homo Novis" or OT 8's on earth experience. It is the job of all Scientologists to remove this false reality from the world by auditing each and every space alien spirit and human on earth and the entire universe to CLEAR. For those who oppose Scientology and stand in their way like the Lisa McPherson Trust and all Scientology critics, Scientology promises to do away with them "quietly and without sorrow".

We have calculated that on average, each person on planet earth has 2,209 of these Body Thetans (BT's for short), Hubbard's term for the alien spirits, attached to you causing you to be constrained by Xenu's false reality. The average cost for Scientology to OT 8 is a mere USD 360,000, meaning that each BT only costs USD 163 to clear. Now that is a bargain if there ever was one.

Hubbard never said the overall cost to the planet would be cheap, but let's examine it. The planetary cost equation is as follows: 13.5 trillion spirits times USD 163 equals a mere USD 2,205,000,000,000,000. Just think about it -- USD 2.2 quadrillion -- WOW!, that's enough to keep Rear Admiral Miscavige, the current head of Scientology and Marty Rathbun, his number two, in casino chips for a long time.

To finish the "factual" account, the Loyal Officers of the Marcab Confederation finally discovered how evil Xenu was and overthrew him. He is now locked away in a mountain on one of the planets and kept in by a force-field powered by an eternal battery. Several of Xenu's relatives can often be found on the internet newsgroup called alt.religion.scientology (or ARS for short) battling Scientology daily.

Many Scientologists who have left from the highest levels of Scientology have told us that they have been in a room at Scientology's Sandcastle building in Clearwater, Florida for 5-7 hours per day for up to 15 years, holding two asparagus cans together, attached to a primitive lie detector, talking all day to these dead space aliens. And guess what? You'll never ever finish talking to dead space aliens until you leave Scientology.

As we said, you are learning about this story in the interest of full disclosure. If you become involved with Scientology we want you to do so with your eyes open and fully aware of the sort of material it contains. And, if you're in Scientology you should know how you will be spending the rest of your life.

The following comments were made by an ex-Scientology auditor and Case Supervisor named Caroline Letkeman, who was highly trained (Class IX) to administer the Scientology "technology" on the Upper Levels of Scientology's Bridge, including OT3:

Begin quote.

In order for scn (Scientology) to "work" at the upper levels, the person must accept the OT 3 incident as a literal and factual matter. If the person does not experience the fragmented condition as a "conscious and literal fact", or if he cannot accept Hubbard's interpretation of the psychological phenomena expected at this level, the person is labeled a "bypassed case" and is sent back to redo his lower levels. I.e., his psychological state must be such that he can see his psychological complexes as external autonomous entities, and he must be able to literally address these entities with the exact volcano story as given by Hubbard.
There is no getting around this point technically--either the incident is real and "processible" or the person has not validly made his lower grades. According to the technical materials of Scientology, there is no one on this earth who has escaped the incident or who is immune to its effects. That is why Hubbard labeled it as the "4th dynamic engram."

Therefore, there is no further Bridge progress possible unless and until the person can subjectively experience the required psychological condition and its associated Hubbardian interpretation.

The Scientologist at OT 3 is not addressed on the basis of his "beliefs" about Hubbard's materials. He is handled on the basis of Hubbard's "scientific" evaluation of his literal psychological condition. If the psychological condition of the person at OT 3 is not sufficiently fragmented and projected outward, he will not be able to accept the OT 3 incident as given by Hubbard as a valid interpretation of his condition.

That Scientology publicly protests criticism of their "religious beliefs" is itself dangerously mislea- ding, in my opinion. Hubbard did not characterize the OT 3 incident as a "belief"--he taught it as a factual incident and as a scientifically researched psychological explanation for the state that OT 3's find themselves in at that level.

End quote.

If you need to know more about Scientology, start at the following web sites: http://www.lisatrust.net/ and http://www.xenu.net/ and Scientology's own web site, http://www.scientology.org/.

We do not object to anyone, Scientologists included, believing in alien cosmologies and practicing their truly held beliefs or even accepting the "reality" of those inter-galactic "events" as factual. We do have at least two problems, however, with Scientology's deception about its alien space opera--

First, Scientology lies when it says that it is compatible with all other religious beliefs. It cannot be and is not compatible with ANY religious belief since it clearly teaches that all religion is an implanted false reality. In fact, any other religious belief by a Scientologist is not even tolerated. Talk about your faith in Christ or about prayer in an auditing session and off to the Ethics Officer you will go for some PTS ("Potential Trouble Source") handling because you are indulging in "other practices". OT3, the level when a Scientologist learns about the alien cosmology and that religion is an implanted false reality, obviously ends any possibility of further illusion that Scientology can be compatible with ANY religious belief.

Second, Scientology keeps its alien cosmology a secret for financial reasons. A Scientologist is required to go through a gradual progression of expensive steps before they are allowed to learn about the alien cosmology. They are told if they learn about it prematurely, it will create a life threatening situation -- it will give them pneumonia and they might die. We know of no reports of anyone ever getting pneumonia, much less dying from exposure to Xenu and the alien story. Hiding the truth about this space opera serves several functions, including, a) recruitment -- few would join if they were told about the alien beliefs up front; b) money -- holding back the information buys time to collect more money from a recruit before the colorful information is revealed; c) control -- holding back the information allows Scientology to use the "tech" to indoctrinate and induce a person not to bolt when they do hear the alien story.

This entire cover-up of this alien cosmology in Scientology is all about deception, lies and money.

The Lisa McPherson Trust's mission is to expose the abusive and deceptive practices of Scientology and help those who have been victimized by it. Clearly, the deception and lies surrounding the alien cosmology is something we must stand up against. Let me make this clear: it is not the alien cosmology itself that we object to; it is the deception and lies surrounding it.

We are all well aware that Hubbard wrote all the policies used by Scientology management today which are at the heart of the entire war that Scientology has declared on its critics. Hubbard wrote the "Manual of Dissemination," for example, in which he instructed his followers that the purpose of a lawsuit is to harass, not to win. He also wrote the "Manual of Justice," in which he says that a reporter who dares to write anything critical about Sciento- logy should be harassed and intimidated until he shudders into silence. He also wrote "Attacks on Scientology, Additional Policy Letter," in which he details how to destroy the reputation of anyone who is critical of Scientology. There are many, many others, including the vilest of Hubbard's policies, the "Fair Game" policy which has been in continuous use by Scientology since it was written in 1967. Current management is revising these Hubbard policies for the reprints of the OEC and Tech volumes for legal and PR reasons, because Miscavige and his lawyers don't want the public to know how rabidly insane and vindictive Hubbard really was. But these are Hubbard policies, without any doubt. Current management continues to apply the original versions of these directives, but do not delude yourself that it was anyone but L. Ron Hubbard who wrote them.

We have spent many hours with former Scientologists all over the world and have never hidden our feelings about Hubbard. To politely summarize those feelings, we think Hubbard was a sinister con man and believe that the vast majority of people who know anything about him share this view. While Miscavige may be seen as a monster, he is merely a proxy for carrying out the evil policies of L. Ron Hubbard. Miscavige is definitely not "misapplying" the evil parts of Hubbard's tech -- we believe he is using them just as Hubbard intended.

Further, we believe the creed of Scientology has many noble elements to it but think the creed is a fraud because Scientology and most Scientologists do not act in accordance with their creed. The creed is pure PR and Sciento- logy and most Scientologists are hypocrites. A simple example of this hypocrisy is that their creed says that all men have an inalienable right to free speech, yet in practice that right is only supported by the organization when the speech is laudatory of Scientology. Otherwise you are publicly labeled a bigot and hatemonger and the fair game policies are applied against you.

One of the most difficult aspects of recovering from Scientology seems to be former members coming to terms with their irresponsibility while they were in Scientology. Over and over we have had ex-Scientologists say to us, "I didn't know about all these bad things going on in the organization," only to come back later and admit that they just didn't want to see it. Former Scientologists regret that they had bought into the management's lies so thorou- ghly that they couldn't see what was going on all around them. Many ex-Scientologists have told us that it was simply a lot easier not to have to take responsibility for these things. But everyone in the organization is responsible for what the organization is doing.

Remember that Scientology breeds irresponsibility and that Scientologists become addicted to that irresponsibility. What else could happen when throughout your experience in Scientology firstly it's "Engrams" and your reactive mind that are the root cause of your problems; then it's space aliens (BT's); then when you think you have elimi- nated all your BT's you discover you've got drugged BT's, then sleeping BT's, then unconscious BT's and finally you find that the entirety of the physical universe is a false reality that can be done away with by auditing even more BT's so that you are able to step out of the physical universe and be above matter, energy, space and time.

To better understand how Scientology works, go to the lisatrust.net website and read two articles by Stacy Brooks concerning auditing and how Scientology views the family. These articles can be found at the following, http://www.lisatrust.net/Tech.htm and http://www.lisatrust.net/Family.htm, respectively. Then, in combination with the previous articles, read the outstanding Cartesian Award winning essay by Erik Snead at http://www.lisatrust.net/literaticontest/contest2000/00erik.html to get an insight into how this addiction to irresponsibility happens.

Scientology perpetrates fraud, abuse, deception and mind control on its adherents. These actions violate not only the law but also the human rights and civil rights of its members. Further, Scientology abhors criticism so much that it misuses the mantle of religion to promote and justify hatred and bigotry by its members, attorneys, private investigators and cult apologists towards critics.

We will defend the right of anyone to practice any truly held belief they choose. After all, the U.S. Constitution, the U.N.'s Declaration of Human Rights and other noteworthy national documents grant this basic freedom to everyone. However, nothing gives people or institutions the right to engage in behavior that violates other peoples' rights or the law, even if they do so in the name of religious motivation.

  • Xenu or Xemu ?
  •
  • There are several spoken mentions of "Xemu" on the Class VIII Assists tape. A partial transcript of this tape appeared in Scamizdat #5. Sound clips are available here in several formats: WAV, PCM, or RealAudio files. (You can download a free RealAudio player by clicking here.)
  • In the first excerpt Hubbard appears unsure about the name:

    xemu0.wav, xemu0.ram, xemu0.pcm :
And they had elected a fellow by the name of Xenu, ahhh, could be spelled X-E-M-U, to the supreme "rulah", and they were about to unelect him. And he took the last moments he had in office to really "goof the floof."

Aren't thetans supposed to have perfect recall of all their memories? How come Hubbard can't remember whether the biggest villain in galactic history is named Xenu or Xemu? Wouldn't such a thing be indelibly burned into his mental image pictures of his life as a space alien ?

The remaining four instances on the tape are all "Xemu" :

    1. xemu1.wav, xemu1.ram: "Xemu missed."
    2. xemu2.wav, xemu2.ram: "which Xemu had brought in"
    3. xemu3.wav, xemu3.ram: "so on, the administrators that had been loyal to Xemu were"
    4. xemu4.wav, xemu4.ram: "Xemu was put with several of his cohorts in the center of a mountain"

So, if the transcript is accurate, Hubbard himself was unclear whether the name was Xenu or Xemu. His associates insist that he always said "Xenu", and in this tape he does start out with "Xenu", but then he continues with "Xemu".

OT 3 - Scientology's "secret" course rewritten for beginers

OT 3 - Scientologys "secret" course rewritten for beginners, by Jon Atack

According to Scientology theory, we are all multiple personalities made up of hundreds of compacted extraterrestrial entities. We have reincarnated for 75 million years since this happened to us all. Scientology has claimed that this is a business trade secret...

There has been great controversy, and massive litigation, concerning the Scientology cults once secret "Operating Thetan Section Three Course". To save the brain strain of reading this purportedly lethal material in the original Ronspeak, and to save any danger of litigation for violation of copyright, this version is humbly tendered as a gift to mankind...

Scientologists believe that they have reincarnated from before the beginning of time. They believe that many interplanetary civilizations have existed. Hubbard restyled the spirit the "thetan". Before the beginning of time, thetans existed, separate from one another (thetans were not created they have existed for all time and indeed precede the creation of time). With the creation of energy and matter, thetans have gradually become trapped. The principal method of entrapment is through "implanting", where the thetan is hypnotised and given positive suggestions which limit its powers. This process, according to Hubbard has been going on in this universe for four quadrillion Years (4,000,000,000,000,000, rather than the mere 8-20,000,000 held by astrophysicists). However, this is just one universe in a series of several.

Scientology seeks to return the thetan's power by stripping away implants and using drills to heighten extrasensory perception and ability. The goal of these procedures is an "operating thetan" - a being who can act independently of his physical body, and can cause physical events to occur through sheer force of will. The "operating thetan" would be capable of dismissing illness and psychological disorder in others at will.

The Scientologist generally undertakes hundreds of hours of preparation prior to taking the first section of the Operating Thetan level courses - OT 1 (a version of which is available on Karin Spainks homepage). OT 2 consists of over a hundred pages of handwritten lists of opposites, such as "create - create no". These are supposedly the basic positive suggestions from implants administered 75 million years ago. These implants were part of the so-called OT 3 incident.

According to Hubbard, 75 million years ago, there was a confederation of 76 planets, including Earth. The "Galactic Confederation" (the title comes from the science fiction of E.E. 'Doc' Smith), was ruled by Xenu (also called "Xemu" by Hubbard). Overpopulation had become a serious problem, which Xenu resolved by murdering many of the inhabitants of the Confederation. Hubbard estimated that the 76 planets averaged 178 billion people each. The people were killed and the thetans (or spirits) gathered, frozen in a mixture of glycol and alcohol, and brought to Earth where they were placed near volcanoes which were exploded with hydrogen bombs. The thetans were gathered on "electronic ribbons", packaged together as clusters and given 36 days of implanting, to render them servile and incapable of decision. A cluster is a collection of body thetans containing a leader and an "alternate" leader. The cluster conceives itself to be an individual. According to OT 3, everyone on Earth is in fact a collection of such clusters (Hubbard says that each person doing OT 3 will find "hundreds" of body thetans - many victims of this course believe that they find millions).

On OT 3, the individual finds "body thetans" by locating any sensation of pressure or mass in his or her body. This is addressed "telepathically" as a cluster, and taken through the cluster-making incident of 75 million years ago. Once this is done, the individual body thetans should be available to be taken through either the same incident or the incident of entry into this universe. This is called "incident one", and supposedly occured four quadrillion years ago. This incident is described in the materials as: "Loud snap - waves of light - chariot comes out, turns left and right - cherub comes out - blows horn, comes close - shattering series of snaps - cherub fades back (retreats) - blackness dumped on thetan." Most scientologists are unaware of the true definition of "cherub".

The Scientologist spends days or years dealing with "body thetans" (I have known two people who "audited" this procedure almost every day for eleven years). Scientology materials of different dates assert that at the end of OT 3 the individual will be "stably exterior" (from his body - out of his head, it might be rephrased), free from "overwhelm" (i.e., nothing will ever overwhelm him emotionally again), and have total recall of his entire round of incarnations from four quadrillion years ago to the present. Secret materials seen only by those selling the course give the "end phenomenon" as a "big win" urging that the person be put onto the next course - where they pay by the hour - quickly.

Anyone who encounters this material without having undertaken Scientology courses up to OT 2 will supposedly die from pneumonia.

OT 3 is of course in substantial disagreement with conventional geology. Geologists hold that almost all of the volcanoes listed by Hubbard and both Hawaii and Los Palmas came into being far more recently than 75 million years ago. On a simple point of logic, it seems strange that none of these volcanoes was damaged by the explosion of the hydrogen bombs. Hubbard was taking barbiturates and drinking heavily when he wrote this material, according to letters he wrote at the time which are kept from scientologists by the management of Scientology.
