MAA, Master At Arms. A Sea Org (highly indoctrinated Scientologists who sign billion-year contracts inside the church) Ethics Officer, responsible for keeping Ethics in (keeping the all-important production up; someone who produces well in Scientology is almost always regarded as being in-Ethics; the ends justify the means is policy.) Their lower org equivalent is called an Ethics Officer, or EO.

EPF, Estates Project Force, where new recruits are first placed so that they may receive indoctrination into the Sea Org echelons of the cult and prove themselves worthy of being into the Sea Org. Per policy, all recruits must finish a course called "Product Zero" and a 7A Security Check.

RPF, Rehabilitation Project Force, the church of scientology internal gulag where bad people are sent for punishment or "rehabilitation"; a brain washing and penal organization. It is said to be volentairy, however, if one does not go, he is expelled and has to pay a freeloader bill, which is a lot of money.

In Scientology, a formally condemned and shunned heretic or wrongdoer is labelled a Suppressive Person, often abbreviated SP. L. Ron Hubbard coined the term to refer to "enemies" of the Church of Scientology, whose "suppressive acts" are said to impede the progress of Scientology. Often, the principal grounds for declaring an individual "SP" is that they are alleged to have been publicly critical of Scientology, and in practice, this meansmaking a negative comment in private. Other times, it is the result of a Committee of Evidence, or leavingemployment of a Scientology organization without permission.

The suppressive person doctrine is connected to several of Scientology's controversial policies. These include "disconnection," in which Scientologists cease all communication with the declared "suppressive" even if they are immediate family members, and "fair game", which authorizes harassment against those declared "SP." Typically, this entails making nuisance telephone calls to, or going through the garbage of the S.P. because the law restrains criminal activities.

An S.P. Declare is issued as a church "Ethics Order". All Scientologists are expected to disconnect from a person so labelled, and if any refuse, they can also face being declared S.P. This has lead to the break-up of numerous business relationships and families, where spouses are instructed to file for divorce and move away with their children as a means of disconnection.

Presently, a S.P. Declare can only be authorized by the Authorization, Verification, and Correction Unit of the Commodore's Messenger Org, International Extension Unit located in the Hollywood Guarantee Building in Los Angeles, California. In the absense of this person, the Authorization, Verification, and Correction International, Issue Authority in the Religious Technology Center can authorize a S.P. Declare. Ethics Orders no longer list this approval line for legal liability reasons.

S.P. Declares often contain provably false, derogatory information about the person targeted, likely fabricated for internal church propaganda purposes. Generalities, falsehoods, half-truths, and omitted context all serve to paint a degrading picture of the targeted church member. Even if a S.P. Declare Ethics Order contains patently absurd material, church executives expect members to agree with it or face Scientology Justice procedures themselves with possible S.P. Declare.

Actions that indicate a person will be declared a S.P. 1. A Scientology ethics officer or master at arms advising a spouse to file for divorce from the targeted person.

2. A Scientology ethics officer or master at arms advising a business associate to conclude a business relationship with the targeted person.

3. An Office of Special Affairs collaborator provoking a conversation with the person on the subject of explosives, firearms or some other emotionally charged topic, which can be twisted to negatively portray the target in an affidavit or court deposition.

4. A Scientology church book seller falsely excusing why they cannot sell or deliver certain items to the targeted person.

5. Sudden withdrawal by other Scientologists who were friends with the targeted person, for no apparent reason.

6. Sudden hostility or suspicion directed against the targeted person by church staff and collaborators, for no apparent reason.
